Our past, always present

Discover the history of Alpe Colombé

How it all began

The Meynet-Carrel family

Our adventure began with a great desire to bring Aunt Francesca and Uncle Mario’s old mountain cabins back to life, just a few steps from civilisation, but at the same time in the midst of the nature of our beautiful mountains. We wanted to build a little piece of world outside the box to share with anyone who wishes.

Style and Design

Unique, authentic, and typical, the spaces of Alpe Colombé have been designed with style and respect for the ancient traditions of the Aosta Valley. The cladding is made of wood, which is more than 200 years old, taken from the family buildings which were in the place of the current Alpe Colombé. Our charming chalets will surprise and delight you down to the smallest detail.

Why Alpe Colombé?

Alpe Colombé is what “our elders” always called them. The alpe is a vast mountain meadow used for cattle grazing, in fact in summer you will come across herds of cows and sheep grazing in the wide clearing in front of the cabins. The constant rhythmic sound of the cowbells is a real concert. Colombé (with the accent on the last syllable) is the name of the place, of uncertain origin.

The Alps know how to shake your heart, capture your eye and your spirit, and remain stuck in your mind.
From Alpe Colombé you can admire the ups and downs of the mountain profiles, becoming more and more rugged as they approach the Matterhorn. Don’t be surprised if your thoughts begin to wander, inspired by the harshness of the peaks, their proximity to the sky or their intrinsic and sometimes metaphorical beauty.

This is why we have decided to name the apartments of Alpe Colombé after the mountains that stand out majestically in front of the cabins.
